City of Marathon firefighters and a Monroe County deputy extinguished a burning boat trailered in a driveway before the flames were able to cause significant damage to a Florida Keys home early Wednesday morning, the sheriff’s office said.

The 20-foot Sea Pro vessel was found completely engulfed in flames shortly before 2 a.m. in front of the house in the 200 block of Camino Road in the Middle Keys, according to an incident report provided to the Miami Herald.

A deputy first on the scene used multiple fire extinguishers to put out the flames, which had begun to char the front of the house, according to the report. The boat was totaled, the sheriff’s office said.

Marathon firefighters forced their way inside the house and found it was not occupied, the report states. They put out the fire and shut down the electrical supply after finding damage to wires attached to the house, according to the report.

Deputies said they do not suspect foul play, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
