A Michigan man died in the hospital after losing consciousness while snorkeling off the Florida Keys Monday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Dwaine David Anderson, 73, was swimming on the Grecian Rocks reef off Key Largo with a commercial dive operation when he was found passed out, said Adam Linhardt, sheriff’s office spokesman.

The crew of the dive boat immediately began CPR as the boat rushed back to shore, Linhardt said. Anderson, who is from Crystal Falls, Michigan, was pronounced dead at Mariners Hospital in Tavernier, per the sheriff’s office.

Autopsy results are pending, but the sheriff’s office does not suspect foul play, Linhardt said.
