Who stabbed Ollie? There’s a reward for info on who shoved pit bull in a suitcase.

Ollie spent most of Thursday resting.

The pit bull, found stabbed, shoved in a suitcase and left behind a Hollywood building has been through a lot in the past few days.

“This has been a big day of rest for him,” said Linda Ream, the communications coordinator for VCA Animal Hospital, where Ollie is being treated.

And while Ollie (short for Oliver) is recovering from his more than 50 stab wounds, people from across the United States and even abroad have stepped up to help.

“I am just blown away by the support,” said Jan Milbyer, the president of Grateful Paws Dog & Cat Rescue, a nonprofit rescue organization, which is trying to raise money for the dog’s care and find him a home.

On Tuesday, Milbyer created a GoFundMe account for Ollie with a goal of raising $1,500. By Thursday, more than 1,200 people from all over United States and even abroad had donated more than $38,000.

Milbyer said people have also offered to foster and adopt Ollie, who is believed to be around two years old. Milbyer said she is accepting applications, but it could be weeks before Ollie is ready to leave the hospital.

Early Tuesday morning, Hollywood police were called to a report of a suitcase behind a building at 1945 Lee St. Officers spotted a paw and heard the dog’s cries coming from a blue suitcase.

They quickly brought the pit bull to the animal hospital for treatment. He has already had to go under anesthesia three times, and has had two surgeries to repair wounds, Ream said. Ollie will likely need a third surgery for his head wounds, she said.

“He is expected to make a full recovery,” she said.

Meanwhile, detectives are still looking for those responsible for the cruelty.

PETA announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

“Someone is behind the cruel attack on this dog,” says PETA Vice President Colleen O’Brien in a news release. “PETA is calling on anyone who recognizes this animal or this suitcase to come forward immediately so that whoever stabbed, beat, and tried to hide this suffering dog in a suitcase can be stopped from hurting anyone else.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hollywood Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 954-967-4411 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
