Yet another cruise line will soon call Miami home.
Luxury line Silversea Cruises is moving its North American headquarters from Fort Lauderdale to downtown Miami’s Wells Fargo Center late this year. The office has about 150 employees.
"Miami is recognized in the cruise industry as being the "cruise capital" of the world," said Kristian Anderson, Silversea's senior vice president and general manager for the Americas, via a statement. "So we're pleased to have found a building in the heart of the city that reflects the best of our brand and is able to meet our current and future expansion needs.”
The Monte Carlo-based line operates five all-suite luxury ships, with a sixth slated for delivery in 2017, and three expedition ships. It also has offices in London, Frankfurt and Syndey.
Other major lines based in Miami include Carnival Corp.’s headquarters and brands Carnival Cruise Line and fathom, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and sister brands Celebrity and Azamara; Norwegian Cruise Line and sister brands Regent and Oceania.
