AT&T adds Miami-Dade cell site, completes upgrades to 240 sites

AT&T has activated a new 4G LTE cell site in North Miami Beach to provide additional LTE coverage for customers. The new cell site serves the N.E. 163rd Street Causeway and the surrounding commercial and residential areas south of Aventura and follows upgrades to hundreds of sites around South Florida.

AT&T recently completed capacity upgrades to more than 240 cell sites in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The extra capacity makes it possible for the cell sites to handle more network traffic, which in turn helps improve mobile Internet data and voice connectivity for customers.

AT&T 4G LTE provides faster mobile Internet speeds, up to 10 times faster than 3G service, the company said. AT&T launched 4G LTE in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach in July 2012. The AT&T 4G LTE network now covers more than 300 million people nationwide.
