Akerman LLP moving to Brickell City Centre

Akerman LLP is moving its Miami headquarters to Brickell City Centre next year.

The law firm is taking 108,000 square feet, or 80 percent, of the class A office space at Brickell City Centre Green, one of two office buildings currently going up in the massive $1.05 billion mixed-use development.

The law firm will be the lead tenant at Swire Properties’ high-profile project, taking eight floors of the midrise. Akerman’s name will be on the top of the building.

Terms weren’t disclosed. Akerman is currently housed at SunTrust International Center at 1 SE Third Avenue.

The law firm’s Miami office, to be located at 98 SE Seventh Street, will have direct access to the Eighth Street Metromover station, which the developer is currently upgrading.

Akerman, which currently is at SunTrust International Center at 1 SE Third Avenue, plans to move in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Brickell City Centre recently signed Saks Fifth Avenue as retail anchor. It said it has sold more than 70 percent of the units in Reach, its first residential condo tower. Swire expects to complete its second office building, dubbed Two, in early 2016.
