South Florida Food 50: Katie Sullivan and Andrew Gilbert of The Seven Dials
Katie Sullivan and Andrew Gilbert, owners-operators of The Seven Dials.
Why they’re Food 50: The food is outstanding, the beer is local, and the service is top-notch at Katie and Andy’s humble British gastropub in Coral Gables.
UK-born Andrew Gilbert refined his knack for cooking at Michy’s and other local spots before opening a true-to-form British pub in Coral Gables with his wife, Edible South Florida editor Katie Sullivan, in 2014. The Seven Dials has risen to a go-to spot for in-the-know foodies and restaurant-industry types from all over town.
Gilbert makes a killer fish and chips, of course, but it’s his duck confit and chicken Kiev and piri-piri wings that keep the party going. While Gilbert’s grinding out the food, find cheerful, mild-mannered Sullivan working the front of the house, keeping smiles big with fresh drafts from local MIA Beer Co. in Doral.
Where to find them: The Seven Dials, 2030 S. Douglas Rd., Coral Gables; 786-542-1603.
