Southbound turnpike shut down before Golden Glades for truck fire at rush hour’s start
Drivers should avoid taking Florida’s Turnpike south out of Broward County as Thursday morning rush hour begins. A fire blazing through a semi-truck shut down the turnpike’s southbound lanes before the Golden Glades interchange around 6:30 a.m.
The lanes remained shut down as of 8:15 a.m. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said rescue workers took take the driver to the nearby trauma center.
Drivers should use Interstate 95, University Drive/Northwest 27th Avenue or State Road 441 as alternate routes.
