Zoo Miami is opening a special art exhibit Saturday featuring a collection of work made by different zoo animals.
The zoo is working in collaboration with the South Florida Chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers to put together “Savage: Art Made by Animals for Animals.” The exhibit will be from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Bakehouse Art Complex, 561 Northwest 32nd St., Miami.
The gallery will include works made by lions, giraffes, elephants, chimps and Komodo dragons, and will highlight Patty, an endangered Matschie’s tree kangaroo, who has had paintings in galleries internationally.
Admission is free, but paintings will be sold through a silent auction and a raffle. The funds raised will support species conservation and research both locally and internationally.
