Billy Joel building New Year’s Eve tradition in South Florida
Billy Joel had such a good time spending New Year’s Eve on stage at Sunrise’s BB&T Center to usher in 2016, the rocker is set to do it again this year.
Seems like the start of a new tradition.

Last year Joel, who was in fine voice, was still on stage an hour into 2016 and closed with his signature tune, “Piano Man.” He tweaked its lyric to sum up not only his two-and-a-half hour concert but his enduring appeal: “It's a pretty good crowd for a New Year/And the manager gives me a smile/'Cause he knows that it's me they've been comin' to see/To forget about life for a while.”
Joel’s second consecutive South Florida New Year’s Eve Concert has a 9:30 p.m. Dec. 31 start time at BB&T Center, 1 Panther Pkwy., Sunrise.
Tickets, at $163.75, $114.50 and $53.75, go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 10 through 10 p.m. Oct. 13 for American Express members. General public sales start at 10 a.m. Oct. 13 via Ticketmaster or 800-745-3000.
