Miami celebration of Edwin Pope set for Tuesday at Marlins Park

There will be a public celebration in Miami next week to celebrate the life and career of the late, great Miami Herald sports columnist, Edwin Pope, who passed away Jan. 19 at age 88.

The event is scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 7 to 10 p.m. at The Clevelander inside Marlins Park. It is free and open to all. However, due to limited venue capacity, those wishing to attend must RSVP via email to edwinpopememorial@gmail.com and state why they wish to attend and what Pope meant to them in a career that spanned from 1967 through 2003. Applications should be made soon. Only those who are selected will be e-mailed back and included on an entry list.

The event is the brainchild of two of Edwin’s biggest fans, Dan LeBatard of 790 The Ticket and ESPN Radio, and the Herald’s Greg Cote.
