1. DOLPHINS

Miami out to shock the world: Well, it would shock the NFL, at least, with Dolphins entering Sunday’s season opener in Seattle as biggest betting underdog league-wide in Week 1. We’ll know right away how good the Dolphins are … or aren’t.

2. HURRICANES

UM hosts FAU in second game: After beating Florida A&M 70-3 in opener, Canes faced what should have been another comfy win Saturday against FAU. Just wait, though. If September’s schedule is a feather, October’s hits like a sledgehammer.

3. MARLINS

Do you believe in miracles? It might take one for Miami to climb back into wild-card playoff race after entering weekend 12-23 since Aug. 1. Starting Monday, all remaining games are against NL East. Consolation prize: Finishing over .500, at least.

4. TENNIS

Championship weekend at U.S. Open: To death, taxes and sunrise among life’s certainties, sometimes it seems we could add Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic winning another major tournament title. Then sometimes tennis surprises you, and Serena fails to reach a final.

5. BASKETBALL

Shaq, Iverson lead Hall class: Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson headed the 10-person Basketball Hall of Fame induction class Friday. Shaq spent  3 1/2 of his 19 seasons in Miami. So Heat fans prorated the pride they felt to about 18 percent.
