The Eagles will trade linebacker Kiko Alonso, along with cornerback Byron Maxwell, to the Dolphins when the league year begins Wednesday. Here are five things to know about the Dolphins’ newest run-stopper.
1. Alonso will have no troubling fitting in here in diverse South Florida. His father Carlos was born in Cuba; his mother Monica is Colombian.
2. Alonso had a troubled college career at Oregon. He was suspended for the entire 2010 season after a DUI arrest, and then again for a time in 2011 after an arrest on burglary and trespassing charges.
3. Despite his legal issues, Alonso finished strong at Oregon and was the Bills’ second-round pick in 2013.

4. He was an instant star in Buffalo. Alonso ranked third in the league in tackles his rookie season. The Pro Football Writers of America named him Defensive Rookie of the Year.
5. The only thing stopping Alonso in the NFL his his health. He tore his ACL while working out before the 2014 season and re-aggravated the injury in 2015.
