Making her third lifetime start and first in a stakes, Richard and Bertram Klein’s Cash Back kept her unbeaten record intact with a 1 3/4-length victory in Saturday’s $75,000 Melody of Colors for 3-year-old fillies at Gulfstream Park.
During the race, three horses collided at the top of the stretch and three jockeys were unseated. Jockeys Rafael Hernandez and Joel Rosario had to be taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for observation.
More Royalty, trained by Ralph Nicks, was still in front as the field straightened for the home stretch when Brandy’s Girl made contact with the leader and dropped to the turf, tossing Hernandez.
Kandoo was unable to avoid Brandy’s Girl and also fell, throwing Rosario. Hi Holiday swerved to the inside to get around the fallen horses, losing jockey Edgard Zayas, and Luis Saez pulled up My Dear Valenzuela after his mount appeared to trip over Brandy’s Girl as the filly got up.

Zayas and Saez were uninjured, and Saez rode Tonedaddy in the 12th-race finale. More Royalty’s stablemate Kandoo had to be euthanized.
“I saw the horse next to me went straight down and I said, ‘Oh, man,’” Lezcano said. “I had to keep riding my horse.”
