Booker T. Washington’s football team secured a 21-20 victory against Central in a matchup of nationally ranked teams. Maurice Alexander finished with 187 total yards, Mark Walton ran for 125 and Andre Duncombe had a key sack late to lead the Tornadoes.


Keyshawn Young, Miami High, football: Young finished with three touchdowns — two rushing and one punt return — to lead the Stingarees to a 30-20 win against Braddock.

Jordan Cronkrite, Westminster Christian, football: Cronkrite ran for 147 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns to lead the Warriors to a 48-13 win against Champagnat Catholic.

Juliette Hamilton, Palmer Trinity, girls’ volleyball: Hamilton had 30 assists and six digs to lead the Falcons to a win over TERRA.

Nick Diaz, Sunset, boys’ cross-country: Diaz won the individual championship of the King of the Hill Invitational.

Alyssa Pujals, Gulliver, girls’ cross-country: Pujals won the individual championship of the King of the Hill Invitational.

Daniel Hasty, Palmetto, boys’ golf: Hasty shot a 35 to lead the Panthers to a win over Coral Gables.

Alexa Rivas, Coral Gables, girls’ golf: Rivas shot a 36 to lead the Cavaliers to a win against Palmetto.

Ronald Hernandez, Braddock, boys’ swimming and diving: Hernandez won the 100 freestyle to lead the Bulldogs to a meet win against American.

Nastassja Posso, Doral, girls’ swimming and diving: Posso won the 100 back and 200 free to lead the Firebirds to a win against Westminster Christian.

Carlos Forero, Killian, boys’ bowling: Forero bowled a county-best 681 high series last week in a meet against Coral Reef.

Kristi Perlberg, TERRA, girls’ bowling: Perlberg bowled a 457 high series in a win against Palmetto.
