The American Patriots (6-3, 6-0) clinched the District 16-7A championship with a 35-0 shutout of the Mater Academy Lions (6-3, 4-2) at Jones Field on the campus of Monsignor Pace.

“I was just seeing my receivers getting open,” American quarterback Ed Crouch said. “I couldn’t have done it without my receiver, Anthony Gordon.” Crouch led the Patriots with 196 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Gordon scored the Patriots’ first points on a 30-yard pass from Crouch. Two passes later, Karon Jackson scored on a 43-yard strike from Crouch. Following a short touchdown run, Crouch found Gordon again, this time for a 42-yard touchdown. The Patriots led 28-0 at halftime.

A 18-yard touchdown run in the third quarter by Arkeem Granger put American up 35-0.
