North Miami’s Hilton Joseph throws six TDs in shutout win over Krop

North Miami junior quarterback Hilton Joseph threw six touchdown passes — each to a different receiver — in the Pioneers’ victory over Krop at FIU North.

“I was trying to get each of them a touchdown [Thursday],” Joseph said of his receiving corps after completing 24 of 33 passes for 286 yards. “I guess I accomplished that.”

North Miami ran 23 plays and maintained possession for nearly nine minutes in the first quarter in taking a two-touchdown lead that it never surrendered. Krop had the ball for seven plays and 2:30 in the opening quarter. The playoff-bound Pioneers (8-1, 5-0 District 13-8A) held the Lightning (1-8, 1-4) to 51 yards in the first half.

“We’re not really a passing offense. We’re balanced,” Joseph said. “We came in here prepared just as if they were any other team. We watch film like if it was the state championship game.”

Pioneers receiver Henry Payoute had five receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown, and Victor Sam caught four passes for 87 yards and a touchdown.

Krop’s Colorest Vandiver ran for 54 yards on 10 carries.

“We’re going to be just as prepared as we were [Thursday] for [the next] game,” said Joseph, who threw for 228 yards in the first half. “We come in every week the same way.”
