Mater Academy’s Rodriguez, Adjamah combine for 5 TDs in win against Goleman

Mater Academy cruised to its third victory in a row after defeating Goleman on Saturday night at Milander Park.

The Lions (4-1, 2-0, District 16-7A) produced a touchdown on eight of their nine drives and took leads of 14-0 1:59 into the game, 27-0 after one quarter and 41-0 by halftime.

Senior quarterback Brian Guerra and junior receiver Steven Rodriguez connected for a 53-yard strike on the fifth play from scrimmage. Rodriguez also scored on an 8-yard run.

Senior running back Jamal Adjamah ran for 111 yards and three touchdowns in the first 12 minutes of the game. He finished with 152 yards on 13 carries with five touchdowns.

Goleman (0-6, 0-3) spoiled the shutout with senior O’Brian Anderson’s 70-yard touchdown run with 4:26 remaining in the third quarter. Senior Sebastian Pineda nailed a 40-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to complete Goleman’s scoring.
