Ferguson girls, Belen boys win at Youth Fair

For the second week in a row, Belen Jesuit’s boys and Ferguson’s girls secured major cross-country team championships.

The teams won the team titles of the Youth Fair Invitational on Thursday afternoon at Larry and Penny Thompson Park.

Sunset’s Nick Diaz took home the individual boys’ title after running a time of 16:06.23. Ferguson’s Katrina Santiago won the girls’ title with a time of 19:27.75.

Host Florida Christian defeated the St Brendan Sabres 26-24, 17-25, 25-18, 9-25, 15-8.

Veronica Gomez led the Patriots with 11 points, 19 assists, seven kills and seven digs. Natalia Tohme registered seven points, nine kills, five digs followed by Christina Berndt with five points, six kills and four digs.

With the victory, Florida Christian improved to 5-4.
