Jordan Scarlett rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns, including a scintillating 62-yard score down the right sideline, to lead the No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas football team over No. 5 Plantation American Heritage 38-7 in the first meeting between the perennial national powerhouse Raiders (1-0) and defending Class 5A state champion Patriots (0-1).


Julia Lindbergh, Coral Springs Christian, girls’ volleyball: Lindbergh had 18 kills, two blocks, five digs and two assists to lead the Crusaders past Sagemont 25-19, 25-10, 25-23.

Raphael Marcoux, Fort Lauderdale, boys’ swimming: Marcoux won the 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle to help the Lightning edge Pines Charter 94.5-91.5

Jake Bofshever, Coral Springs, football: Bofshever went 17 of 21 for 215 yards and three touchdowns to lead Coral Springs over Cooper City 34-14.

Kiki Estevez, North Broward, girls volleyball: Estevez had 29 assists, 12 digs and four points as the Eagles rallied past Pope John Paul II 25-22, 22-25, 13-25, 25-12, 15-11.

Paige Alsten, Pompano Beach, girls’ volleyball: Alsten had 11 kills, five digs, five blocks and four assists to lead the Tornadoes over Coral Springs 25-11, 25-9, 25-17.

Sara Shmueli, Pine Crest, girls’ volleyball: Shmueli had 17 assists and four assists to lead the Panthers past Somerset in three sets.

Jason Collins, Dillard, football: Collins threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Basil Spencer with 2:32 left and finished 23 of 48 for 294 yards with three scores to lift the Panthers over Plantation 20-15.

Neru Nshaka, Hallandale, football: Nshaka scored on a 89-yard kickoff return and threw a 67-yard touchdown pass to Richie Cooper as the Chargers beat McArthur 56-6.

Kristian Caparros, American Heritage, boys’ golf: Caparros shot 67, highlighted by sinking birdies in the last five holes, to claim medalist honors and lead the Patriots to the Heritage Invitational title.

Deon McIntosh, Cardinal Gibbons, football: McIntosh rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Chiefs over Western 29-7.

Gigi Garcia and Isabel Herrera, Archbishop McCarthy, girls’ golf: Garcia (72) and Herrera (74) went 204 to help Archbishop edge American Heritage-Delray 303-304 for the Maverick Invitational title.

Xavier Love, Everglades, football: Love rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Gators over the Bulldogs 21-7.

Alton Allen, Deerfield Beach, football: Allen rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown as the Bucks rolled up 214 rushing yards to defeat Northeast 43-6.

Fernando Navarette, Cypress Bay, boys’ swimming: Navarette won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle to lead the Lightning over South Broward and Coral Springs.
