Western girls’ volleyball tops Cypress Bay

The Western girls’ volleyball team picked up its sixth win of the season with a victory over Cypress Bay on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lightning won the first set 28-26, but the Wildcats rebounded to win the three following sets 25-21, 25-19, 25-21.

Amanda Medlock led the Wildcats with 25 kills, two aces and 11 digs.

Melissa Taylor registered 41 assists and two aces, followed by teammate Taylor Calder, who assisted with 11 kills, an ace and 14 digs.

The Wildcats improved to 6-1 this season and remained undefeated in district play (4-0).

Western will take on Piper at 4 p.m. Friday on its home court.
