Doral Academy defeats Ronald Reagan and takes the Mayor's Cup for the first time since 2008 with a 21-13 victory on Friday.
The Firebirds were able to capitalize on a high-tempo offense, taking an early 14 point lead in the first quarter.
Doral was led by senior quaterback Angel Alvarez who had 90 yards passing and two touchdowns.
The victory was big moral boost for a young team.

“To win the Mayors cup is a great feeling,” Alvarex said. “We have been working so hard for it.”
The game was put away in the fourth quarter after Reagan was not able to capitalize after a 10 minute drive, the Firebirds were able to score quickly and make it a two touchdown lead.
The final touchdown was an impressive catch by senior wide receiver Murphy Theodore in the corner of the end-zone. Theodore was able to keep his feet in bounds while momentum carried him out.
