TEAMS OF THE WEEK
The TERRA boys’ and Braddock girls’ bowling teams won the GMAC championship this past week. For TERRA, it was its third consecutive title. Braddock’s girls survived a tough best-of-5 match against Ferguson to win.
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
James Barnes, Southwest, football: For the second week in a row, Barnes nearly scored in every facet of the game. Barnes had two touchdowns rushing and 71 yards on four carries, returned a punt for a touchdown with another nullified by a penalty to help the Eagles defeat Ferguson and inch closer to a playoff berth.

Marcelo Rodriguez, Miami High, football: Rodriguez threw six touchdown passes and for 287 yards on 9 of 11 attempts as the Stingarees beat Coral Park 53-0.
Ashley Reid, Killian, volleyball: Reid totaled 27 kills and 30 digs to help the Cougars upset Coral Reef in a District 16-8A semifinal.
Miguel Cancel, Gulliver, boys’ swimming and diving: Cancel won the 200 and 500 freestyle races and led the Raiders to wins in the 200 and 400 free relays to help the Gulliver boys win District 12-2A title.
Kyla Valls, Ransom Everglades, girls’ swimming and diving: Valls won the 100 free and 200 freestyle races and led the Raiders to wins in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay that helped them clinch the District 12-1A team title.
Cole Castro, South Dade, boys’ golf: Castro shot a winning score of 72 to win the Region 8-3A championship and individually qualify for the state meet.
Alicia Cappellaro, Divine Savior, girls’ golf: Cappellaro shot a 76 to win the Region 8-1A championship and individually qualify for the Class 3A state meet.
Gabriel Correa, Ransom Everglades, boys’ cross-country: Correa ran a time of 16:16.39 to win the District 16-2A individual title.
Rahyah Andressohn, Mater Academy, girls’ cross-country: Andressohn ran a time of 19:03.65 to win the District 16-3A championship.
