Coral Springs Charter football highlights last week’s best performances in Broward County


Calvin Jackson Jr. caught two touchdown passes from A.J. Miller and returned an interception 43 yards for another score to lead the Coral Springs Charter football team to a 38-14 victory over St. John Paul II, helping the Panthers (9-0) earn its first undefeated regular season and No. 1 seed in the Southeastern Football Conference playoffs.


Amber Stout, Sheridan Hills, girls’ volleyball: Stout had 28 assists to lead the Sharks over Hollywood Christian in three sets.

Jason Brown, American Heritage, football: Brown threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead the Patriots (7-1) over Miami Jackson 51-27.

Sarah Martin, Cardinal Gibbons, girls’ volleyball: Martin had 10 kills, 16 assists, eight digs and four blocks to lead the Chiefs over Chaminade in the District 14-4A playoffs.

Matthew Galluzzo, St. Thomas Aquinas, boys’ golf: Galluzzo shot 74 to finish second at the Region 7-3A championships.

Ryan Szklany and Justin Ebenhack, Highlands Christian, boys’ cross-country: Szklany and Ebenhack went 2-3 to help the Knights win the District 13-A title.

Alyssa Pujals, Pine Crest, girls’ cross-country: Pujals led a 1-2-3-4-5 finish to help the Panthers win the District 15-2A title.

Giavante Evans, Deerfield Beach, football: Evans had two rushing touchdowns to lead the Bucks (7-1) over Monarch 34-0.

Erin Silverman, Cooper City, girls’ volleyball: Silverman had 15 points, 13 assists and 10 digs to lead the Cowboys over Nova in the District 14-7A playoffs.

Jillian Bourdage, American Heritage, girls’ golf: Bourdage won medalist (67) to help the Patriots win its fourth region title in the past five years.
