Cardinal Gibbons’ Maverick Rowan is enrolled at North Carolina State and ready to go for upcoming basketball season

Maverick Rowan will not be one of the most recruited high school basketball players in the country this year.

Only because he is already enrolled and preparing for the upcoming season at North Carolina State.

Rowan, a 6-6, 200-pound guard/forward, led Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons to a 32-1 record and the Class 5A state title last year as a junior.

Rowan and teammate Jose Morales were named the Miami Herald’s Class 8A-5 basketball Players of the Year in Broward County.

After finishing his school work during the summer, Rowan was able to reclassify as a 2015 commit and signed with N.C. State — where he is listed on the Wolfpack’s 2015-16 roster as a freshman.

According to the website, Rowan will continue to wear No. 24 as he did in high school.

On Aug. 2, Rowan posted on his Twitter account that he planned to play for coach Mark Gottfried and the Wolfpack.

On Saturday, N.C. State posted a picture on its account showing Rowan signing autographs at the school’s annual “Packpalooza” preseason street festival.

“His first of many,” the tweet read.

Rowan ended up playing three years of high school basketball — two in Pennsylvania and one at Gibbons.

As a sophomore, Rowan led Lincoln Park Charter outside of Pittsburgh to a state championship and was named Pennsylvania’s top Class 1A player before he and his family moved to South Florida.

Rowan had initially committed to Pittsburgh as a sophomore, but reopened his recruiting and chose N.C. State over St. John’s — where his father Ron played — and Louisville.

Rowan also received scholarship offers from North Carolina, Wisconsin and UCLA, among others.
