Rory McIlroy has made countless jaw-dropping shots during his career, but it’s hard to imagine there are many as wild as the one he made Friday morning during the second round of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in Charlotte.

He shanked his second shot on the par-5 10th hole, it sailed wide right, and rolled about 50 feet down a cart path. It looked hopeless as McIroy walked up the path to assess the situation while fans moved out of the way.

Somehow, he managed to bounce the ball up the cart path, through the crowd, through the sand trap, across the green and onto the back fringe. He knocked it in for par on the next shot, to save par.
