Indie sensation Johnny Gargano, who appears on NXT, is part of the inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Classic, which begins TV taping on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Full Sail Live at Full Sail University in Winter Park, near Orlando.

To prepare for the spectacular Classic, Gargano worked a stellar match with former WWE NXT superstar Martin Stone of the UK in the main event of a Ronin Pro Wrestling show at Broward College Gym on Saturday, June 18, 2016 in (South Florida) Pembroke Pines. Legendary Florida referee Bruce Owens officiated the action.

Prior to the Ronin show, Gargano discussed his pro wrestling journey.

Gargano, also known as Johnny Wrestling, is a proud Cleveland native and so happy the Cavaliers won the NBA title, the first major championship for Cleveland, since 1964. He discussed the Cavs in the interview, which was the night before Game 7 of the NBA Finals between Cleveland and the Golden State Warriors. He also addressed the WWE Cruiserweight Classic.

The WWE Cruiserweight Classic debuts on the WWE Network at 9 p.m. EST Wednesday, July 13. To get fans ready for this extravaganza, a “CWC: Bracketology” special on the 10-week tournament is 9 p.m. EST Wednesday, July 6 on the WWE Network.

WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events, & Creative Paul Triple H Levesque said during a recent NXT Conference Call: “We have 32 of the best cruiserweights from around the world coming into Orlando to compete in what I feel will be the premiere cruiserweight tournament ever and find out who the best in the world is in the under 205-pound division. When you bring in some of the names who we’re bringing in, I think this is going to be just an unbelievable opportunity over 10 weeks to see some amazing, amazing performers.”

He added: “There’s going to be a lot of surprises. This show will be something like you’ve never seen come out of WWE or NXT, even in the way it’s presented. The commentary team, all of it. It’s going to be something totally different, and I’m really, really excited about it.”

Former WWE superstar Daniel Bryan and WWE Smackdown announcer Mauro Ranallo will call the action.
