WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on WWE Network; 2K celebrates Sting

WWE remembers those who paved the way with its annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony 8 p.m. ET Saturday, April 2 on WWE Network from the American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Mavericks.

This year’s class honored in Dallas is an eclectic mix of performers headlined by the iconic Sting. The colorful figure made his name in the NWA and WCW as its franchise player. However, the impact he made reverberated throughout the industry including WWE. The same could be said for the Fabulous Freebirds, who blazed a trail all their own beginning in World Class Championship Wrestling. Their legendary feud with the Von Erichs drew big crowds for the Texas-based promotion and is still talked about today.

Speaking of the Lone Star State, Jacqueline Moore earned her stripes as Miss Texas. She gained the reputation of being tough as nails against her male and female opponents. Moore also marked a milestone as the first African American women’s champion.

The Longhorn theme continues with the induction of Stan “The Lariat” Hansen. The proud Texan saw much success not only in the United States, but Japan as well. Rounding out the wrestling side of things is the Godfather and the Big Boss Man, who was the posthumous inductee for the 2016 class. Snoop Dogg will be the latest addition to the celebrity wing. Respected television host and journalist Joan Lunden is receiving the Warrior Award for inspiring many with her battle with breast cancer.

Ric Flair inducts Sting; APA (John Bradshaw Layfield and Ron Simmons) inducts The Godfather; The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods) inducts the Fabulous Freebirds (Michael P.S. Hayes, Terry Gordy, Buddy Jack Roberts, Jimmy Jam Garvin); Slick inducts the Big Boss Man; The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) induct Jacqueline; Vadar inducts Stan The Lariat Hansen; Dana Warrior inducts Joan Lunden; TBA for Snoop Dogg.

Watch the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony live 8 p.m. ET Saturday, April 2 on WWE Network. Maria Menounos once again serve as host of the red carpet special with Byron Saxton.

A one-hour edition of the show will air Thursday, April 7 after SmackDown on USA Network.
