Most known second generation wrestlers like Primo, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Tamina are from famous wrestling fathers.

NXT’s Carmella is a little different. She is second generation, too, but her father competed in a WWF ring as enhancement talent. Nothing wrong with that. He became a good hand in the late 1980s and into the 1990s.

Just that when you mention the name Paul Van Dale, it’s not wrestling household, i.e. Carlos Colon or Dusty Rhodes.

Still, Paul Van Dale did something many more never did, and now his daughter is attempting to do even more in the pro wrestling/sports entertainment biz.

So far, so fabulous.

The beautiful Carmella is on the talented NXT roster. A developmental branch of WWE, NXT is not only grooming superstars and divas for the WWE roster but also developing into its own brand, and NXT is white hot right now.

Carmella is helping make NXT a success. She is developing her in-ring skills and learning all facets of becoming a successful diva, wrestler through top notch trainer Sara Amato at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

“Carmella is composed and constantly surprising me with her athletic ability,” Amato said via email. “Carmella is definitely one to watch; she just has the ‘it’ factor.”

She must acquire some of that athleticism and toughness from her wrestling dad. He is also a former Marine who is today a boxer and submission fighter.

Carmella, 25, learned a little from watching her father, but she did not have any formal wrestling training, before inking a developmental deal with WWE in 2013. Her background includes NFL cheerleading, NBA dancing, fitness training, modeling, and most importantly, earning a college degree.

Taking someone green who displays some athleticism, some coordination and molding them the WWE way can be an easier challenge than training someone who has more ring experience but with other habits learned from others.

“Carmella is one of the quickest learners I have ever had,” Amato said. “She knows what she’s capable of and goes after it with everything in her.”

Originally from Worcester, Mass., Carmella’s alliance with Jersey’s own Enzo Amore and New York’s Big Cass Colin Cassady is entertaining. The tri-state connection brings attitude, flash, swagger and trash talk, fitting of their Northeastern roots.

NXT Carmella Bio

Carmella gets what she wants, when she wants it, and this Diva has her sights set on making history in WWE. A former NFL and NBA dancer, the self-titled “Princess of Staten Island” has the athletic abilities to make her dreams a reality.

The bombshell's road to the NXT ring was rather unusual. Carmella was working as a hairdresser, until an unfortunate incident involving her friends Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady, a bucket of hair-removal cream and a client's prized poodle led to the beauty being out of a job. Looking to take out her frustrations, the feisty Staten Islander approached Amore and Cassady about becoming an NXT Diva. The brash duo showed Carmella the ropes and earned her an NXT tryout match, which she impressed in, earning the win with a vicious submission maneuver.

Despite growing up spoiled in the lap of luxury, she knows what it means to fight. Carmella’s ready to prove that she’s ready to mow down whomever stands in her way.
