Good news for fans of the University of Florida and Florida State University basketball teams: The Gators and Seminoles will be back in South Florida Dec. 16 for the 24th annual MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic at the BB&T Center in Sunrise.
The Gators, coming off an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight run, will play the Clemson Tigers, who played in the NIT after finishing 17-16 last season. Florida went 27-9 overall and 14-4 in the SEC.
In the other game, FSU, which finished 26-9 a year ago and lost in the NCAA Tournament second round, will face the Oklahoma State Cowboys from the Big 12 Conference. The Cowboys were 20-13 (9-9 in the conference) before losing by a point to Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
FSU coach Leonard Hamilton coached Oklahoma State from 1986-90 before becoming head coach at the University of Miami.
