The eighth annual Orange Bowl Paddle Championship — presented by Windhaven Insurance — will take place Saturday at the Miami Marine Stadium Flexpark located at 3601 Rickenbacker Causeway in Key Biscayne.
Registration is now open for those wishing to participate in the event that benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami.
This year’s event will feature a variety of races throughout the day for paddlers of all levels ranging from novice to expert. The Long Race is a challenging 8.13-mile course where elite-level paddle boarders round the historic Virginia Key. The Long Race will feature prize money of $1,000 for first place, $400 for second place, and $200 for third place for both men and women in divisions of 14’ board and 12’6” board. There must be at least five people registered within the men’s and women’s division in order for prize money to be awarded.
In addition, the event will feature a Short Race where paddle boarders will paddle around a 3-mile loop in protected waters inside Marine Stadium Basin on Virginia Key; a Novice Race that welcomes all first-time and novice paddlers for a fun 1-mile race on calm water with a paddle-board clinic available prerace to master your skills; as well as a Corporate Challenge for four-person corporate teams featuring an “inflate the board” challenge, and a relay race complete with a short paddle course and finishing on land. Each corporate team will also receive its own paddle board to use during the race and take home.

All registered racers will receive an event t-shirt, event medal, continental breakfast, lunch and adult beverage coupons for the food trucks on-site.
The start and finish line will be located at the Miami Marine Flexpark parking lot next to the Marine Stadium.
Miami Marine Flexpark offers free parking for racers and spectators. In addition, food trucks will be on-site to provide food for racers complimentary with their entry and for sale to the general public.
