Attendees to the Board of Trustees Athletics Committee meeting Wednesday received two handouts of stories: one noting the general rise in the football team’s combined grade-point average in the past two years and the other extolling the increase in its enthusiasm for community service.
As for the former, the grade-point average has gone from 2.35 last fall to 2.58 in the spring and a 3.01 over the summer.
Bank purchases naming rights
An athletics update to the Finance and Audit Committee stated Ocean Bank was paying $130,000 a year for the next three years for the turf at FIU Stadium to be called Ocean Bank Field.
