Miami Hurricanes announce seven-city spring tour with football coach Mark Richt

University of Miami football fans around the nation — including South Florida — will have a chance to meet new coach Mark Richt in May.

The UM Hurricane Club and UM Alumni Association announced Thursday the 2016 #BuildingChampions Spring Tour that will start in South Florida and encompass seven cities: Dania Beach, Jacksonville, Orlando, Atlanta, Bonita Springs, Chicago and New York City.

UM athletic director Blake James will be at all the events except Atlanta and Bonita Springs. Richt, the former Georgia coach, should be a very popular figure in Atlanta; and the Bonita Springs event is in conjunction with a golf tournament at the Bonita National Golf Club.

Here’s more information on each event:

▪ May 2 (6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.): South Florida — The Casino at Dania Beach, 301 E. Dania Blvd., Stage 954, Dania Beach, 33004. Cost: $25 general public; $15 UM Young Alumni (classes of 2006-2016) and children 12-under. Includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and Q&A session.

▪ May 4 (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.): Jacksonville — Prime F. Osborn Convention Center, 1000 Water St., Jacksonville, 32204. Cost: $75 Hurricane Club members; $100 non-Hurricane Club members. Includes cash bar, dinner buffet, live auction and Q&A session.

▪ May 5 (6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.): Grand Bohemian Hotel — 325 S. Orange Ave., Orlando, 32801. Cost: $25 general public; $15 UM Young Alumni and children 12-under. Includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and Q&A session.

▪ May 12 (6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.): Atlanta, The Commerce Club — 191 Peachtree St. N.E., 49th floor, Atlanta, 30303. Cost: $25 general public; $15 Young Alumni and children 12-under. Includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and Q&A session.

▪ May 14 (8 a.m. shotgun start golf tournament, followed by lunch): Southwest Florida, Bonita National Golf Club, 1748 Bonita National Blvd., Bonita Springs, 34135. Cost: $1,000 corporate sponsor (includes four golfers, picture with Richt, tee sign and recognition); $500 (includes four golfers and tee sign); $95 for single golfer. ▪ May 20 (12-2 p.m.): New York Marriott East Side, 525 Lexington Ave., New York, 10017. Cost: $25 general public; $15 UM Young Alumni and children 12-under. Includes lunch buffet and Q&A session.
