Fall camp is finally over and the Hurricanes’ season opener against Bethune-Cookman is around the corner.

With five days to go before the 12:30 p.m. kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium, the University of Miami released its first depth chart of 2017 on Monday.

Fans have already learned some of the surprise starters, such as junior cornerback Michael Jackson and redshirt junior Mike Smith at weak-side linebacker, though Smith’s start had a lot to do with usual starter Michael Pinckney’s suspension for the first half of the game because of his targeting in the Russell Athletic Bowl (as well as his missing much of fall camp because of a hurt hamstring).

Mark Richt also announced Monday on his weekly 560 WQAM radio show that freshman receiver Mike Harley will start because of Ahmmon Richards’ hamstring pull, with senior Braxton Berrios in the slot and Lawrence Cager, who is behind Richards at X-receiver on the depth chart, taking the other starting spot.

Freshman Zach Feagles won the starting punting job, taking over for the departed Justin Vogel, who will no doubt be sorely missed.

Feagles is one of three true freshmen who appear to be flat-out starting without any “Or’’ after the name. If you count the “Or’’ factor as far as the two-deep goes (in some cases there are more than one “Or’’ at a single position, such as with kick returner, where sophomore Malek Young, freshman Jeff Thomas and freshman Dee Jay Dallas are fighting for the backup spot to Braxton Berrios), there are 11 true freshmen in the hunt for 13 two-deep spots.

So, here you go:
