Football season is nearly upon us.
The University of Miami’s 2017 fall camp opens at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Greentree Field in Coral Gables, despite nearby ongoing construction of the Carol Soffer Football Indoor Practice Facility.
Camp, closed to the public, will consist of 23 sessions and will run six days a week. Players will be off Sunday.
The Hurricanes will have three scrimmages during fall camp -- all “closed,’’ according to the written release sent out Wednesday by UM.

CanesFest, as previously reported, will be from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 at Hard Rock Stadium. It is believed there also will be a scrimmage (again, closed) that day, though no information has been released.
The annual, fan-friendly CanesFest is free and open to the public and will include autograph sessions with current UM student-athletes, stadium tours, select-a-seat season-ticket opportunities and interactive games for youngsters.
Media Day, the one day reporters are allowed to speak with freshmen, is Aug. 14 at the Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence. That day is closed to the public.
UM kicks off its season against Bethune-Cookman at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at Hard Rock Stadium. Road games at Arkansas State and Florida State will follow, respectively, at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 9 and 8 p.m. Sept. 16.
The Canes finished 9-4 in 2016, including their first bowl victory in 10 years.
