The respect is inching up for the Miami Hurricanes.
After defeating FAU 38-10 Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium, the University of Miami entered the Amway Coaches’ Poll as the nation’s No. 25 college football team.
Last week, the Canes (2-0) were the first team outside of that poll, in essence, the team with the most points at what would be considered No. 26.
On Sunday afternoon, the AP Poll kept the Hurricanes at No. 25, as the Florida Gators (2-0), bumped by the Canes to No. 26 last week, are now No. 23 in the AP after beating Kentucky 45-7.
FSU (2-0) moved up one spot in the AP to No. 2 after beating Charleston Southern 52-8.
The coaches also moved up FSU to No. 2 and have the Gators at No. 23.
Miami travels to Boone, N.C., for a noon showdown Saturday against Appalachian State, which is 1-1 after defeating Old Dominion 31-7 Saturday. The Mountaineers lost their opener in overtime at No. 9 Tennessee after missing an extra point earlier in the game that would have kept them from going into overtime.
The UM-App State game will be broadcast on ESPN.
Alabama is No. 1 in both polls.
