Karl-Anthony Towns Had Beautiful Message For Late Mom After Game 2 Win

Karl-Anthony Towns had one of the best postgame interviews in recent memory after the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Towns was sensational for the Knicks on Friday night, racking up 21 points and 13 rebounds in 34 minutes of action. Although he got himself in foul trouble, his intensity never dipped against Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.

The Spurs had a chance to even up the series as time expired, but Wembanyama's attempt at a game-winner came up short. After the Knicks secured a thrilling 105-104 win, Towns spoke to ESPN's Lisa Salters about the final possession of Game 2.

Towns viewed the final defensive stop as a sign that his mother, who passed away in April 2020, was by his side.

"If you lose a parent...you just look for signs and I'll take any sign I could get and I prayed to her strong before that possession…I take it as a sign my mom was there with me so I appreciate her so much," Towns told Salters. "A great player got a great shot, it just didn't go in. It was great defense - shoutout to Mitch [Robinson] and our team. But I take it as a sign that my mom was here with me."

As you'd imagine, NBA fans were moved by Towns' postgame comments.

"This guy deserves the world and more," a Knicks fan wrote on X.

"Nobody deserves this more than him," a second fan commented.

"I love Brunson and as long as we win the series I wouldn't mind who gets the award by my god does KAT deserve this FMVP," another fan said. "In everything he's gone threw off the court but on the court he's been the best player in the playoffs for us and we aren't this dominate without him."

KAT and the Knicks have the right mindset.

Despite taking a 2-0 series lead, the Knicks haven't lost their focus.

"It's 0-0 at this point, as far as we're concerned," Knicks forward Josh Hart said. "Being up 2-0 means nothing. They're going to come out on Monday with an unbelievable amount of energy and desperation, and we've got to do better."

The NBA Finals will resume on Monday night at Madison Square Garden. There's no question Knicks fans will be fired up for Game 3.
