The Fort Lauderdale Strikers re-signed defenders Stefan Antonijevic and Justin Chavez for the 2014 North American Soccer League season. The terms were not disclosed.
“One of our off-season goals was to ensure that the core group of players that led our team last year would play for us again in 2014,” Strikers managing director Tim Robbie said. “Antonijevic and Chavez both showed tremendous promise last year. We expect both players to make significant contributions to our team going forward.”
Antonijevic, 25, and Chavez, 23, signed their first professional contracts with the Strikers before the 2013 campaign.
The pair made their debuts in the center of defense in a 1-0 win in Edmonton on May 26, earning both a place on the NASL Team of the Week.

Antonijevic became a regular starter for coach Günter Kronsteiner in the fall season, starting all but two matches.
The 6-6 center back formed a formidable partnership with Rafael Alves, dubbed by some fans as the “Two Towers.” The partnership looks to remain intact as Alves also returns to the Strikers this season.
