Hard times for Israel

    ORDER REPRINT →

August 21, 2014 12:36 PM

These are challenging times for Israel.

What the world seems to not understand, blinded by its prejudice, naive criticism, and lack of support, is that Israel is in a position to save the planet from this terrorist scourge of the earth, like a metastasizing cancer.

The obvious hypothetical, and realistic, scenario, akin to if rockets from New Jersey were raining upon New York City, would be analogous to Israel's justified retaliation to Hamas' s rockets being fired and aimed upon its women, children, schools, and hospitals.

Acknowledging who the real bad guys are, and directing support where it belongs, would go a long way for potentially threatened societies to collaborate and rid the spreading threat of this mad, hate-mongering, and radical faction who uses the Palestinian people as human shields as part of Hamas's aggressive military strategy and mantra to annihilate and destroy a peaceful little country which never belonged to the Palestinians, in the first place.

From a quote in a recent article by Italian journalist with Il Foglio, Giulio Meotti: “The sagacious American author, Eric Hoffer, gave voice to the most tragic Holocaust-related 20th-century truth: ‘I have a premonition that will not leave me, as it goes with Israel, so will it go with all of us.’ ”

H. Allen Benowitz Burnsville, NC.

Cuban Museum dispute

As a Cuban American and niece of the late Ofelia Tabares, who, since the 1970s was instrumental in the concept of a Cuban Museum in Miami, I am embarrassed (though not surprised) by the recent headlines regarding the two-year old museum.
