Pet is a priority

I work at a grocery store. I frequently need to use my vacation pay to cover expenses.

Your June 26 article, Why Duncan the terrier’s cataract surgery cost taxpayers $8,430, was appalling.

If I had a choice between a week in Paris or my pet’s health, I’d choose my companion, a trip to Orlando or helping a relative in need. Bad form, Herald! Sling mud at something else.
