My mom, Floriva Cotter, has been a Miami resident since 1948 and she will turn 89 on Wednesday, June 22. On that same day, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission is voting to have another Florida bear hunt this coming fall.
For my mom’s birthday, she wanted me to send the Miami Herald this picture of her holding a sign showing her opposition to any future bear hunts in Florida.
Instead of killing them, she agreed with my suggestion there should be some type of birth-control dart shot at some of the bears or a capture-and-release program.
