Bad role models

Professional athletes need to set an example. Kids and adults look up to them, praise them and aspire to be like them. What are we to do when these heroes are hitting and beating their wives, girlfriends, and fiancées and getting away with it?

When a video was shown of the Baltimore Ravens’ Ray Rice dragging his unconscious fiancée out of a casino elevator, he was punished by the NFL by being suspended for two whole games. What kind of lesson is that for kids? Hit your wife and it won’t matter? It wasn’t until the video showing him punching her that his contract with the Ravens was terminated. Domestic violence is unacceptable.
