Mayor’s cutbacks

If in fact Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez is able to enact his proposed cutbacks to the Miami-Dade Police Department, he will have succeeded in doing what no other person has been able to do, and that’s to destroy a once nationally recognized department.

It is obvious that the mayor does not understand the word “compromise” and instead has embarked on a confrontational course that has already lowered the morale of many of this department's personnel.

The only winners are the criminal element in this community who will have a field day once these cuts go into effect.

If Mayor Gimenez truly cares about the welfare and safety of the taxpayers and visitors in Miami-Dade County, he’ll change course from his flawed and destructive proposal and do what is right.
