First, the IRS misled the American people and said it never targeted conservatives. Then the IRS claimed that the scandal was limited to a few rogue agents in Cincinnati, when D.C. officials were involved.
Now the IRS claims that it has lost two years’ worth of Lois Lerner’s emails because of a hard-drive crash. In fact, it says it can’t keep emails longer than six months.
The IRS asks taxpayers to keep several years of tax records, but it can’t keep six months’ worth of e-mails? It’s unbelievable — again. We’ve seen a pattern of abuse that saps any confidence that this government agency is acting impartially.
