Goodbye, democracy

Letter writer Jay J. Kaba (“New holiday,” Nov. 22) says that America should move Independence Day to the day that Donald Trump was elected president.

He’s right, as America will be independent of democracy, civility and the rule of law now that his hero, Donald Trump, is president-elect.
