The Herald recommends

District 114

Miami-Dade School Board member Ana Rivas Logan, 49, is vying for this open seat vacated by Republican Anitere Flores, who is running for the state Senate.

She is opposed by Kendall community activist and marketing consultant Millie Herrera, a Democrat, and Denny Wood, an advocate for people with disabilities who is running with no party affiliation.

An educator, Ms. Rivas Logan's experience well prepares her for the Tallahassee job. She supports revamping teachers' pay to reward merit but notes the controversial Senate Bill 6 that sought to end teacher tenure was "too much."

She believes the state's trust funds, like the one for transportation, should not be raided by the Legislature to plug holes in other agency budgets. She supports moving Florida toward more renewable energy to stop our dependency on foreign oil. For Florida House, District 114, The Miami Herald recommends ANA RIVAS LOGAN.
