Traffic snarls major South Florida roads on Friday

Rush hour traffic was a nightmare on what seemed like all South Florida major roads Friday morning.

▪ Traffic was a standstill at the Golden Glades interchange going northbound and southbound.

▪ A multi-car accident at Miami Gardens Drive shut down all lanes for a few minutes around 7:45 a.m., then caused a backup to 119th Street that remained until they were reopened around 8:20 a.m. Traffic remained slow after that.

▪ That was minutes after an accident at Northwest 103rd Street blocked off two left lanes and had drivers standing on their brakes back to 62nd Street.

▪ A single-car accident on the Florida Turnpike southbound at the Red Road exit killed a driver, who crashed through trees next to the highway. Lanes remained open, but rubberneckers caused delays.
