One child dead, 7 adults injured in three-car crash late in morning rush hour

An elementary school-aged child died in a three-car crash that injured seven others and shut down a North Miami-Dade street throughout Tuesday.

Miami-Dade police didn’t know the exact cause of the crash at North 163rd Street and Miami Avenue, four blocks south of the main artery through North Miami Beach.

What they did know is the child, between six and 10 years old, was in a Honda CRV and the two adults in the car were hustled to Aventura Hospital as trauma alert patients. The two adults in a gray Nissan Altima were taken to Jackson Hospital North in stable condition, police said. And the three adults in a Nissan Maxima were treated at the scene.
