UPDATED: All lanes were opened at 8:30 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a single car crash near the ramp from I-595 eastbound to I-95 northbound in Fort Lauderdale.

The early morning Friday crash, which involves at least one fatality, happened around 3 a.m. but was still affecting the morning commute because it's at the merge point of I-595 and I-95. And so, like a calcified artery, it's affecting drivers heading east or west on I-595 and blocking access the ramp to northbound I-95.

FHP opened one lane of the ramp after 6:30 a.m. but still suggests that drivers on I-595 take Broward Boulevard to the north instead of the highway or take State Road 84 to access northbound I-95.

The driver's identity has not been released.
