To those beleaguered commuters who have not been able to drive, bike or walk the Venetian Causeway since the east drawbridge closed for repairs Nov. 14, it’s a Thanksgiving miracle.

The causeway will reopen — but only temporarily — ahead of schedule at 5 p.m. Wednesday and remain open through Miami Art Week until Dec. 11.

Work had originally been scheduled to pause to accommodate Art Basel traffic from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. County officials announced the extended reopening Tuesday afternoon.

The bridge will close again on Dec. 12. Work is expected to be completed by approximately Dec. 29.

Route A buses that run to 20th Street and Bay Road in Miami Beach via the causeway will resume operating on Thanksgiving and stay in operation until Dec. 12.
